Web design, like writing or painting or even sculpting, is a creative art. It takes time and immense effort to produce a professional website.

To be honest, there is no answer to the question of how long it takes to design a website as the time will vary based on the complexity of the project, how quickly you respond to requests for feedback and approval of certain stages, as well as how large your website is. For the most part, most standard websites are completed within four to six weeks, again depending upon its size as well as timely communication and feedback between the designer and the client.

A typical timeline is as follows:

Initial design concepts take upto one week. After we have discussed your needs, have received your content as well as your signed contract and 40% deposit, we begin to design your website. Initial designs will be shown to you at your office by making a copy of these on a CD.

Design revisions take two days to a week. Ideally, you will revert to us withing two-three days. Any delay may mean a setback to the project completion date. If there is no major revision, typical turnaround time is two-three days. Major revisions or requests for an entirely new design may take a response time of upto a week. Once we receive your approval on the design, we move on the developmental stage, where we take up work on the design and create HTML/CSS code. The Home Page is then ready and development of interior page content starts. This takes about one to four weeks, depending on the number of pages and how prompt you are with providing us with all the content for the website. If you have all standard pages, this will be much quicker that if you have any contact forms, for example, as it takes time to set up the form processing script, set up the form fields, test, etc.

Launch of the website will take up to two days. Once we have your approval on all of the content areas, we will require the final payment before moving your website files to the webhost. Once we receive the balance, we will immediately upload the site, run through a final set of tests to be sure everything is functional.

Website maintenance: Simple updates to your websites takes two days to a week. Of course, till the first month after the site is uploaded, this service is free.
